Who We Are: Political Research Associates
Political Research Associates (PRA) is a national nonprofit devoted to supporting movements that are building a more just and inclusive democratic society. We provide research, strategy, and briefings to expose movements, institutions, and ideologies that undermine human rights. PRA publishes The Public Eye magazine quarterly. The PRA staff union is a unit of the Washington-Baltimore News Guild, Local 32035 of C.W.A. Our office is located in Somerville, Massachusetts.
Who You Are: Editorial Coordinator
You are a talented, early career editorial and/or publishing professional who believes in the power of research to inform social justice advocacy. You are committed to informing winning strategies to fight the Right, block White nationalism, theocracy, and authoritarianism and advance reproductive justice and LGBTQI justice.
This position will be supervised by the Communications Manager and work closely with the Editor-in-Chief. The Editorial Coordinator will be part of a five-person communications and editorial team, including the Managing Director, Editor-in-Chief, Communications Manager, and Communications Coordinator.
The Editorial Coordinator at Political Research Associates plays four important roles:

The ideal candidate will either have completed a Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, new media or a related field or have equivalent experience of 1-2 years, which can include internship, volunteer, or paid positions. Relevant knowledge, skills, and abilities may include:

This is a full-time salaried position ($40,000-$55,000) based in Somerville, Massachusetts. As of September 2021, the Editorial Coordinator may occasionally be required to work in PRA’s Somerville office in order to fulfill core duties and responsibilities of the role. This requirement is subject to change based on public health guidance and office protocols. This position is not eligible for exclusive remote work.
Note regarding COVID-19 office access: PRA has implemented a variety of pandemic precautions and measures to prioritize staff safety and public health. The Somerville office closed in March 2020 and we plan to continue to limit access through December 2021.
